About Dog Chews

By April 10, 2015

A fairly common question we hear is “are there any risks or problems with giving my dog a rawhide chew?”. SWVC offers CET Dental Chews because we feel that they are safer than rawhide. Too many dogs will bite off too large a piece of the rawhide and it will create a blockage. If this happens in the throat, the dog can suffocate. If it happens in the digestive system (intestines), surgery can be required to clear the blockage before it turns fatal. the CET Chews are more like pressed particle board and will fall apart once they get wet enough, thus reducing (admittedly not eliminating – so you still have to watch your pet when they’re enjoying these) the risk of a blockage.
