We are excited to announce the addition of a new Associate Veterinarian, Dr. Ashley Bedarf, to the South Windsor Veterinary Clinic. While some of you may have already met Dr. Bedarf, she will officially be joining us on July 1st.
Originally from the great state of Massachusetts (go RED SOX! ), Dr. Bedarf attended the University of Massachusetts, Amherst for her undergraduate studies before moving to Ohio. It was at the Ohio State University, College of Veterinary Medicine where she obtained her Veterinary Degree. Following graduation, she practiced mixed animal medicine for 3 years and then returned to New England to be back with her family.
Early in her academic studies, Dr. Bedarf had the opportunity to work at a livestock farm. This experience excited her so much that she started working as a veterinary assistant in South Deerfield, Ma. During this time she was then given the chance to ride with a mixed animal veterinarian, and the rest as they say is history.
While large animal practice involving livestock and horses was her focus in Ohio, she missed home. She now spends her days treating dogs and cats, and the occasional pocket pet if the need arises. She sees her job as two-fold; treat the animals while simultaneously strengthening the bond between owners and their beloved pets.
So who are Dr. Bedarf’s beloved pets? She has two cats named Bruiser and Luther. Bruiser’s primary interest is food and his life’s work has been finding food, regardless of the cost. Luther however prefers to spend his time snuggling on the couch.
When she is not saving lives, Dr. Bedarf spends her time rock climbing, hiking, kayaking, paddle boarding and Zumba. We have also been fortunate to enjoy her love for baking as well!
Please join us in welcoming her to our practice!
